Cheers to 2020!

New Years is here again!  Can you believe it?! Where did 2019 even go?  I loved being a part of this shoot for Sandi Shipley Photography to celebrate the new year.  A roller skate shoot!  I kept the makeup natural and glowing on Kelli and Lauren.

The lighting, the outfits, the hair!  LOVED IT ALL!

Happy New Year!  Here’s to a year filled with lots of LOVE, FUN and HAPPINESS!

Shannon+Josh: A Classic Wedding

I was so honored to do makeup for Shannon’s wedding.  She was lovely and doing her makeup was a breeze!  I love these images.  The bride.  The backdrop.  The LOVE.  Classically beautiful.

T-shirt Tuesday! Maggie McGrath

Munkee_0719201228

I met Maggie at one of the events for her amazing organization called Pineapple Triangle which gives back to the community and gives a voice to local artists in the Phoenix area.  I love that she is so passionate about building a strong foundation for CHANGE starting at the local level.  The next Pineapple Triangle show is October 15th.  Check out the website, follow them on Instagram and learn how shopping local can support your community.

A little about Maggie:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  This T-shirt is from The Shine Project. Just over 2 years ago I went to a trunk show that they spoke at and I was super inspired by the message and wanted to be apart of a community that promotes change. Pineapple Triangle is symbolism that means welcoming change. By creating local artisan markets that give back this is our way of promoting change and believing that together we can make a difference.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I’m a true believer in change, I believe that if you don’t like something then little by little you can work towards change and making things better. I’m a hopeful dreamer. I love tacos! I have 2 fur babies and work full time. I would love to live up North in the woods, but fear I would miss too many people, I love people and relationships, to me moments are the best when they are shared with others.

T-shirt Tuesday! Ann Marie Manzoeillo

I met Ann Marie at the Uptown Farmer’s Market selling her Amerin Skincare products.  I purchased her Cleansing Grains and loved it!  I am always on the hunt for great skincare and this time was no exception.  And to buy from a local woman was even better!  I knew I wanted Ann Marie to be a part of this t-shirt Tuesday series and promptly went back to see her the next week to ask.  I am beyond grateful she took time out of her schedule to let me play with some makeup and more so for sharing her story.  I learned so much about Ann Marie when I did her makeup application and I can’t wait to see all she is going to do!

Check out her entire product line- Amerin Skincare.

A little about Ann Marie:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: This is my favorite t-shirt because it represents one of the best times of my life that led me to where I am today. Making the choice to pack up and move to New York City at the age of 20 was a brave one and it turned out to be a great one. While I lived in New York I found my independence, met incredible people, pursued a professional dance career and landed an amazing job dancing for Carnival Cruise Lines which eventually led me to meeting my amazing boyfriend and inspiring me to begin my career in skincare.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I am a 28 year old ex professional dancer turned entrepreneur, now changing they way people take care of their skin by providing them with organic, chemical free, and cruelty free skincare products. After finding out the hard way that I have a skin/sun allergy to lime, ( and getting over my heartbreak of not being able to have margaritas in the sun anymore) I couldn’t find the skincare products that I needed for my sensitive skin that was truly free from chemicals. So I have created Amerin Skincare to give myself and others the pleasure of having naturally beautiful skin. Giving back to those who need it the most is so important to me so I’m proud to say that Amerin Skincare gives 1% of each sale to feeding America and additional donations to the international rescue committee. I personally believe that everything happens for a reason and that there are no coincidences and if you allow yourself to take life as it comes, it will be incredibly satisfying and always an adventure.

T-shirt Tuesday! Kori Martz

Munkee_0414151741

How Kori and I did not become friends from the day I stepped foot in this great state of Arizona is beyond me.  (Us Michiganders flock together, not to mention like minded people…)  I met her when I was working for a cosmetics brand and felt (like I did with her sister Kiley) that I had known her forever. We hit it off and no matter how much time passes between conversations or meetings, we pick up right where we left off.  I am always grateful for Kori’s friendship, smile and giving heart.  The world can always use more GOOD.

A little about Kori:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: I love my striped shirt because it isn’t my usual black T-go-to. I love to surprise everyone when I wear something other than mono-chromatic clothing. What’s not to love?! It’s comfy and classy!

Tell me a little about yourself:  My name is Kori, I love life and denim. I have a passion for makeup and skincare. I’ve spent the past 10+ years working for the top makeup and skincare lines, but when Grandma needed help, I moved back to Michigan to give her full time care. I wouldn’t change this one-on-one time with her for anything.  I love chocolate, travel, animals, my puppy nieces; Neen and Knuck, and my family. I think living life fully is the only way to do it, so I am spending time with granny driving around our beautiful state of Michigan and making beautiful memories.

Live Your Happy.

T-shirt Tuesday! Renee Villegas

Munkee_0308170303

I met Renee when I was asked to do makeup for a program that helps veteran soldiers get back in the work force.   I have since done Renee’s makeup for a military ball and I am so grateful she wanted to be a part of this T-shirt Tuesday series.

Most recently, Renee became a nationally registered EMT! Congratulations!  This strong beautiful woman is determined!

Thank you to all who have served and are currently serving this country of ours!

A little about Renee:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I love this old faded t-shirt because it represents one of the most challenging times of my life, my first deployment to Iraq in support of the global war on terrorism. I left this country a young naive Soldier and returned changed with an even greater respect and love for life and my country. I was privileged to work with the greatest health care professionals that made miracles happen daily.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I am a wife, mother, and Soldier. I am currently in the Arizona National Guard and when I am not on active duty orders I work full-time as a Mortgage Loan Officer at USAA.

Holyfield Wedding

When my friends get married and ask me to be a small part of their big day, I am so grateful and excited to do makeup!  Melanie and I were former coworkers, and kept in touch.  I loved that I was asked months in advance to do the makeup for both the beautiful bride and her mom!

The look for both women was a natural, with enough for pictures, look.  Eye shapes and contours were focused on without feeling overdone.

A September Wedding in the Yard

I loved being a part of this wedding!  Jamie contacted me through a mutual friend and from the beginning it was a great relationship between bride and makeup artist.  For anyone who has met or worked with me will tell you that I fully support a bride looking like herself on her wedding day.  And when Jamie told me she wanted a minimal amount of makeup because she does not wear a lot on a daily basis, I listened.  Stating my disclaimer of needing enough for pictures, we agreed on a natural look with airbrush makeup.  The application would be flawless but feel light, and her eyes would pop in the pictures.

Showing up on the morning of the wedding was like walking into the most ideal situation a makeup artist of over 8 years could dream of.  A phenomenal group of ladies-sister, friends, mom, aunts-with the most welcoming and warm energy I have truly felt from a wedding party.  I was so grateful for the experience and as a result everyone had a great time and the makeup fell right into place.

The pictures show how the unique ideas of the bride came across.  Earth tones with each of the bridesmaids choosing their own dresses.  And it was beautiful!

Congratulations to the happy newlyweds!

A Model in the Making

I love an early morning photo shoot in the valley!  And especially since it was an early June morning in Arizona, shoots start and end early.  This Saturday morning I made the drive to Mesa, Arizona to work with Michelle Herrick photography and our model, Justine.  These ladies were a lot of fun.  It was great that Justine had several outfit choices which is a must for an up and coming model.  Giving options to work with always has a better outcome.  We decided to do a more natural makeup for Justine on these headshots. She is hoping to submit these to an agency.  I love how they turned out! A great reflection of Justine’s personality.

Graduation Pictures

I met Jenn on a Saturday in May.  A referral from Sara Johnson, the photographer of the shoot, I was told she needed natural beauty makeup. I was excited.  Natural makeup is definitely a style I like do whenever I am given the opportunity.

Jenn was taking grown up graduation pictures after recently taking her bar exams to become a lawyer.  I really enjoyed talking with her about the type of lawyer she wanted to become and the show Arrested Development.  Since she was watching it during the makeup application process (and I was VERY behind on my TV watching by years, yes it is true), I was getting educated on this show.  Well Jenn, you were right.  After watching it myself, it is a great show!

Special thanks to Sara and Jenn for allowing me to add these great shots to my portfolio.
