Strong Beautiful Mother: The story behind the t-shirt

Moms are superheros.  They create life.  They raise children.  They are intelligent, strong and beautiful. That alone is enough to create an empowering shirt.  But it goes deeper than that.  Moms come in all forms and support systems.  Being a positive example to a child is an amazing gift that should be celebrated every day of the year.

Recently I have been communicating with Maggie’s Place.  I love what this organization does for our community.  Giving a home to women with children that need a helping hand to get back on their feet.  I created the Strong Beautiful Mother shirt from this inspiration, where $5 from each shirt is donated back to this incredible women’s charity.

I am so grateful that my sister and I were shown the support and love from a strong Mom. Our rock, our “keep everything together” supermom taught us about strength, beauty and living a life filled with JOY.  We learned to laugh until we cry.  We learned to cry, really cry, and that its OK just the same.  I am so grateful for this life where my Mom was MY MOM.

Celebrate the Moms in your life.  EVERY DAY. Soak up any amount of time you have with them.  Say thank you and I love you.  Take nothing for granted.

T-shirt Tuesday! Audria Trapp

Audria and I met at a workshop in downtown Phoenix and even though we didn’t talk much during the workshop, getting to know her while planning her tshirt Tuesday makeup application showed me why our paths crossed. Audria was real, honest, so friendly and welcoming when she opened the door for me to do makeup. I felt like we had known each other for much longer than our meeting at the workshop. We related to each other and as a woman, it’s nice to know we are not alone in our thoughts. Audria is inspiring- a woman, a mom, a teacher and a student. We all wear so many hats and our strength is shown through all that we do.

A little about Audria:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: I started going to Sutra Midtown 2 years ago when I was a new mama and I wanted to get back to feeling good about my body. I was really drawn to the community and good vibes that Sutra has to offer. In 1 month I will be completing my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program there. Being apart of this studio has fostered tremendous personal growth, new friendships, and great opportunities. I started rocking The Zen Bird headbands and met the owner Marian at a sutra event by asking her if she wanted her picture taken with her friend. I now work for her part time, and that connection has led me to meeting you at one of her workshops. Everything I’m wearing is representative of the power of connection, which is one of my passions in life.

Tell me a little about yourself: I am a mama and a wife, a believer in the every day miraculous, and a lover of music, food, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (if you didn’t catch that already). I’m actually watching “The Night Man Cometh” as I write this. I am a military brat, born in Florida, but consider myself to be an Arizona native now. I’m obsessed with house plants and a dream of mine is to have an indoor jungle in my home. I (sort of) speak Italian and can’t wait to go back to Italy someday! Another dream of mine is to open a bakery / yoga studio with my mom who is a baker and cake decorator. How amazing would it be to do yoga as you smell delicious cakes being baked?! A girl can dream, right?

A September Wedding in the Yard

I loved being a part of this wedding!  Jamie contacted me through a mutual friend and from the beginning it was a great relationship between bride and makeup artist.  For anyone who has met or worked with me will tell you that I fully support a bride looking like herself on her wedding day.  And when Jamie told me she wanted a minimal amount of makeup because she does not wear a lot on a daily basis, I listened.  Stating my disclaimer of needing enough for pictures, we agreed on a natural look with airbrush makeup.  The application would be flawless but feel light, and her eyes would pop in the pictures.

Showing up on the morning of the wedding was like walking into the most ideal situation a makeup artist of over 8 years could dream of.  A phenomenal group of ladies-sister, friends, mom, aunts-with the most welcoming and warm energy I have truly felt from a wedding party.  I was so grateful for the experience and as a result everyone had a great time and the makeup fell right into place.

The pictures show how the unique ideas of the bride came across.  Earth tones with each of the bridesmaids choosing their own dresses.  And it was beautiful!

Congratulations to the happy newlyweds!
