Lemonade Day

A cold lemonade is the perfect treat on a hot summer day! Even though our Arizona summer begins in May, the rest of the states celebrate the summer months a little later. For this shoot the girls drank Hubert’s Lemonade and soaked up the sun!

The lemonade shoot with Sandi Shipley Photography was a celebration of fun, jean shorts and cool drinks!

Prom Season 2019

It has been a minute since I have was in high school to dream about all the prom fun and glam, but doing makeup for the high school seniors of 2019 has been so much fun!  To see the dresses, hair, makeup and jewels come together has taken me back to my days, many, many years ago.

The prom shoot with Sandi Shipley Photography was a blast!

These ladies are so incredibly cool and kind and I am so grateful to be a part of this shoot!

Kute N Klever Boutique: Dressed for Fall

This was the first shoot I worked on with Sandi Shipley Photography and the hip boutique Kute N Klever.  What a fun experience!  The girls were natural beauties and looked dressed for perfection in their outfits.

The fall colors popped with the background of the Arizona Center.

I did makeup on Katie and Laura.

I kept Katie’s makeup classic and pretty with her rust colored dress and shoes.  Her complexion and hair color complimented the colors in her outfit.

On Laura, I also kept a clean look with a little deeper lip.  The leopard print skirt let us play with a pop of color on the lip.

T-shirt Tuesday! Darlene Messner

screenshot_20160913-203413_resized

Darlene has been in my life for many years.  I worked for her as a sitter for her childcare business and she has grown to be less like a boss and more like a family member.  She is so willing to lend a helping hand, an ear for listening, and any support that is needed.  This purple t-shirt was a beautiful pop of color on Darlene!

A little about Darlene:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I am wearing my favorite color purple. It has been my favorite color since I was a little girl. Colors are such an important thing. Certain ones make you look and feel bright and confident. Purple is a color that accents my total being. I am a Sagittarius and purple is our color.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I have been blessed enough to have a wonderful business for 16 years.  I love being a mom and wife. I moved here from Baltimore and miss the ocean and my Seafood.  I am so thankful to be able to be active and live a full, wonderful life. I love to travel and am hoping to do a lot more of that when I retire.  Live each day telling people that you love them!!!

T-shirt Tuesday! Rachel Eskandari

I have known Rachel through her collaboration with my sister, as well as attending one of her watercolor workshops.  Although my medium of choice is not paint, but makeup, I enjoyed every minute of the workshop! It is always inspiring to create in any form. The space that Rachel creates shows her undeniable talent to teach and explain in a safe environment for learning. It was a great experience!

For a list of all Pink Puddle Studio‘s workshops and prints for purchase, take a look at the site.

A little about Rachel:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I love this shirt because it is flowy and comfortable.  I am all about casual on a day-to-day basis, but with style. The lace pattern adds a vintage style that I love.

Tell me a little about yourself:   I am an artist- I should say a painter of all mediums.  Most of my work is done in watercolor and oil paint.  I am the owner/artist of Pink Puddle Studio, a company I started about 2 years ago.  I feel so grateful to be able to do what I love on a daily basis.  I believe art is an extension of beauty and there should be a lot more of it in the world.

T-shirt Tuesday! Megan Perry

Sometimes people enter your life and you have no idea how meeting them will impact you.  Megan was one of these people.  I did her makeup for her class reunion one Saturday at work.  We started talking and before you knew it, I was booked to do makeup for her wedding in California.  I was so grateful our paths crossed, and even more so that I get to know Megan more each time we chat.

A little about Megan:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I’m super blessed to have such a close group of girlfriends in my life. We call ourselves the “LIG Crew” aka Life is Good Crew. It started out with a group of 5 of us, my two older sisters, our two friends that are also sisters, and me. We’ve all known each other for 20+ years and over time added 4 more ladies to our squad. Most of us have matching “Life is Good” tattoo’s, but some will have to earn that commitment before getting permanent artwork on their body (Stephanie know’s this story ha). Every time I wear a Life is Good t-shirt it just reminds me how lucky I am to have such an amazing bond with 9 wonderful ladies.

Tell me a little about yourself:  Hi, my name is Megan and I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. At the age of two, I started competing all over the world doing a type of dance called clogging. For those of you who do not know, clogging is a mixture of Tap and Riverdance. For the past 25 years, my clogging team hosted an annual competition and we had our final one last month . Even though I don’t compete anymore, it will always be a huge part of my life.

I have a very strong work ethic and have always been quite the workaholic. I started working a week after I turned 15 at a local restaurant called Barro’s Pizza. While there, I would make pizzas, run the cash register, and help deliver pizzas to the customers. Throughout my time in school, I continued working at the pizza place. When I graduated from North Canyon High, I received a job opportunity to work in their preschool room and athletic department. I spent many years there and accepting the job was the best decision in my life because that is where I ended up meeting my fiancé. He was an english teacher and basketball coach.

Being a “Zonie” as the Californians call us, and growing up in the desert, we always had an appreciation for the beach. I would frequently travel to San Diego in the summer and ever since I was little, I can remember always wanting to move there. Two years ago, my dream came true as my fiancé and I finally made it happen. We quit our jobs with the school district, found a place to live, and moved to the beach without any employment opportunities. Everyone thought we were crazy moving without anything lined up, but guess what, we are proving them wrong each day as we are going on our third year. We are both loving life and have two amazing jobs working in the education field.

Last August, shortly after celebrating year one in San Diego, my fiancé Peter finally got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We will be getting married this October and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.

T-shirt Tuesday! Luana Joya Lucia

Munkee_0808140128_resized

Luana was one of the first people I did makeup on when I moved to Arizona, and I have since done her makeup for several events and photo shoots.  Not to mention Luana gives phenomenal massages and energy treatments that leave you feeling lighter and more focused. It was wonderful to do her makeup for this Strong Beautiful Woman series!

Take a moment for yourself and soak up the GOOD, HEALING energies from Luana.  Santi Sacred

A little about Luana:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: The animal print on this shirt reminds me that I am never to be tamed! Why would I want to be boxed in, shackled and chained, only to look from the inside out without freedom to fully explore, fully radiate, and allow my soul to illuminate its natural light .. the wild, wonderful, untamed woman which is my very being, my essence, is likened to the wild, wonderful, tigress that we see in the raw nature that I value, respect, adore and practice in mirroring daily.

Tell me a little about yourself: My name is Luana Joya Lucia. I am a Healing Arts Professional of ‘Santi Sacred Healing Arts’ practicing peace and calm through breath, mentality, heart and soul, and living in the ‘right this very second’ way of positive thought 🙂 Practice, Practice, Practice! I was born in Colorado and miss the coolness, easy breezy, clouds softly hanging from the sky. I am the mother of 3 grown men; one of whom has transitioned to ‘the other side’. My 2 other sons have gifted me with 3 amazing grandchildren with whom I enjoy everyday within my heart and visit as much as is allowed.

I am currently in the midst of coining a massage modality called ‘Etherealiti Energy Healing’, teaching and sharing through videos and perhaps a book. I came across an amazing skin care line called “Beautify” which I include in most of my massage sessions as a medium for the ‘Santi’ ( meaning peace ) face massage. I am revving myself up to move to a cooler climate within the next year or so with my puppy Aja ( meaning Forest Goddess ) and 12 feline pets.

Like YOU, I am a Strong Beautiful Woman!

Shannon+Josh: A Classic Wedding

I was so honored to do makeup for Shannon’s wedding.  She was lovely and doing her makeup was a breeze!  I love these images.  The bride.  The backdrop.  The LOVE.  Classically beautiful.

T-shirt Tuesday! Maggie McGrath

Munkee_0719201228

I met Maggie at one of the events for her amazing organization called Pineapple Triangle which gives back to the community and gives a voice to local artists in the Phoenix area.  I love that she is so passionate about building a strong foundation for CHANGE starting at the local level.  The next Pineapple Triangle show is October 15th.  Check out the website, follow them on Instagram and learn how shopping local can support your community.

A little about Maggie:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  This T-shirt is from The Shine Project. Just over 2 years ago I went to a trunk show that they spoke at and I was super inspired by the message and wanted to be apart of a community that promotes change. Pineapple Triangle is symbolism that means welcoming change. By creating local artisan markets that give back this is our way of promoting change and believing that together we can make a difference.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I’m a true believer in change, I believe that if you don’t like something then little by little you can work towards change and making things better. I’m a hopeful dreamer. I love tacos! I have 2 fur babies and work full time. I would love to live up North in the woods, but fear I would miss too many people, I love people and relationships, to me moments are the best when they are shared with others.
