T-shirt Tuesday! Shireen Dooling

munkee_1030193633_resized

I met Shireen through another designer I worked with doing makeup.  Since then we have been to New York Fashion Week together and done several photo shoots. I love Shireen’s designs and am excited about her newest separates collection!  This makeup application was WHOA. Look at her eyes! Stunning. And that lip? (Her choice.) Perfect. I am so grateful Shireen wanted to be a part of this series so I could share her story!

A little about Shireen:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: 40 hours of my week are spent behind a computer, a majority of the other hours are spent behind a sewing machine or in the gym. When I’m free to run errands or have a date night, I want to be comfortable and this shirt is always the winner!

Tell me a little about yourself: I am a graphic designer by day and a fashion designer by night, (and weekends). I’m currently working on a line of bridal separates and holiday outfits but I love to explore and create avant garde fashion as well. I’m also a sour candy fanatic and a lover of the starry night sky. I one day hope to help save all the endangered animals and fund science education efforts.

T-shirt Tuesday! Jennifer Rzepecki

munkee_1028111828

I was introduced to Mama’s Cold Brew long before I met and talked with Jennifer officially. (If you have not tried this amazing cold brew coffee, you must!  It. Is. Delicious.) It was so nice getting to know Jennifer more when I did her t-shirt Tuesday makeup application. Seeing how her local Phoenix business has flourished is inspiring. Successful women are inspiring. Showing that staying positive, having dedication and working hard pays off.  I think this is only the beginning for this growing business, and for Jennifer!

A little about Jennifer:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: I love what this shirt represents, it is the foundation of everything for me in my life.  Dovetail Vintage- Fruits of the Spirit- Joy, Peace, Goodness, Forbearance, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control.

Tell me a little about yourself: I am wife to Mark for 11 years, Mom to four kiddos (Lola 7, Austin 6, Alex 3, Collins 2).  From Buffalo, New York now living in Arizona for the past 10 years.  I have owned Mama’s Cold Brew for 3 years and get to live out a lifelong passion of culinary creativity!

NEW Inspiring T-shirts!

I am beyond excited to expand the Strong Beautiful Woman Movement line! The outpouring of LOVE for the Strong Beautiful Woman shirt inspired me to create more shirt designs.  I hope you love them as much as I do!

T-shirt Tuesday! Audria Trapp

screenshot_20161010-195759_resized

Audria and I met at a workshop in downtown Phoenix and even though we didn’t talk much during the workshop, getting to know her while planning her tshirt Tuesday makeup application showed me why our paths crossed. Audria was real, honest, so friendly and welcoming when she opened the door for me to do makeup. I felt like we had known each other for much longer than our meeting at the workshop. We related to each other and as a woman, it’s nice to know we are not alone in our thoughts. Audria is inspiring- a woman, a mom, a teacher and a student. We all wear so many hats and our strength is shown through all that we do.

A little about Audria:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: I started going to Sutra Midtown 2 years ago when I was a new mama and I wanted to get back to feeling good about my body. I was really drawn to the community and good vibes that Sutra has to offer. In 1 month I will be completing my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Program there. Being apart of this studio has fostered tremendous personal growth, new friendships, and great opportunities. I started rocking The Zen Bird headbands and met the owner Marian at a sutra event by asking her if she wanted her picture taken with her friend. I now work for her part time, and that connection has led me to meeting you at one of her workshops. Everything I’m wearing is representative of the power of connection, which is one of my passions in life.

Tell me a little about yourself: I am a mama and a wife, a believer in the every day miraculous, and a lover of music, food, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (if you didn’t catch that already). I’m actually watching “The Night Man Cometh” as I write this. I am a military brat, born in Florida, but consider myself to be an Arizona native now. I’m obsessed with house plants and a dream of mine is to have an indoor jungle in my home. I (sort of) speak Italian and can’t wait to go back to Italy someday! Another dream of mine is to open a bakery / yoga studio with my mom who is a baker and cake decorator. How amazing would it be to do yoga as you smell delicious cakes being baked?! A girl can dream, right?

T-shirt Tuesday! Marissa Flynn

screenshot_20160919-185603_resized

Marissa and I have known each other for years.  We first met when we worked for the same tea shop and I am grateful we became friends from the experience.  Getting together for happy hour let’s us get caught up on all of life’s crazy ride, and the meeting usually comes when we need it most. Marissa has a caring heart and is willing to help any way she can, as evident from her work in fundraising and how she is with her family and friends.  I am so glad Marissa could be a part of these T-shirt Tuesday posts!

A little about Marissa:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?: This t-shirt represents so much more to me than just my favorite school. My whole family has always been Wildcat fans, especially my grandmother who passed away a few years ago. I would always call her after games, I loved hearing her passion. I also graduated from the UofA in 2006 which was one of my biggest dreams. Growing up, my mom was a single parent and I often watched her struggle and have to work incredibly hard. From a young age, I always promised her I would get my degree so I could always take care of myself. To achieve that goal was an incredible milestone for me. I hope my mom and grandma know what inspirations they were for me to obtain it.

Tell me a little about yourself: My name is Marissa and I work in fundraising at a local children’s hospital. I’m married to my best friend and a mama to a feisty three year old. I love to be creative and I’m helplessly addicted to Pinterest projects. I am so inspired by other women featured on #TshirtTuesday who use their talents to create and run their own businesses. I’m hoping I focus my talents to do the same!

T-shirt Tuesday! Rhonda LaBatt

munkee_0915200616_resized

I met Rhonda officially on the day I did her makeup for this post.  I love the power of social media!  You can communicate with a person and set up (in this case) makeup applications.  I was interested in the boutique Rhonda created- Redemption Market.  An amazing company where “every purchase makes a difference and is a step toward recovery and rehabilitation”.  The world needs more of this.  It was an honor to meet Rhonda, learn about her family and even more about her boutique.

A little about Rhonda:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I love the message of being BRAVE! I think it takes an everyday bravery to be a woman, a business owner, a wife, and mom. It takes bravery to do what one believes in, even against all odds. This shirt is also special because it was made by women rescued from trafficking in India, and it’s a symbol of their bravery in making a new start.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I am the founder of Redemption Market, an ethical boutique where every purchase supports a cause. We partner with over a dozen organizations, making life better for men and women around the world. It’s especially meaningful to me because it’s a business that I can build together with my three teenage daughters.
Living in the Phoenix area is amazing, and the local community has been so accepting and supportive to me in building this business. Thank you!

T-shirt Tuesday! Darlene Messner

screenshot_20160913-203413_resized

Darlene has been in my life for many years.  I worked for her as a sitter for her childcare business and she has grown to be less like a boss and more like a family member.  She is so willing to lend a helping hand, an ear for listening, and any support that is needed.  This purple t-shirt was a beautiful pop of color on Darlene!

A little about Darlene:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I am wearing my favorite color purple. It has been my favorite color since I was a little girl. Colors are such an important thing. Certain ones make you look and feel bright and confident. Purple is a color that accents my total being. I am a Sagittarius and purple is our color.

Tell me a little about yourself:  I have been blessed enough to have a wonderful business for 16 years.  I love being a mom and wife. I moved here from Baltimore and miss the ocean and my Seafood.  I am so thankful to be able to be active and live a full, wonderful life. I love to travel and am hoping to do a lot more of that when I retire.  Live each day telling people that you love them!!!

T-shirt Tuesday! Rachel Eskandari

Screenshot_20160906-135228_resized

I have known Rachel through her collaboration with my sister, as well as attending one of her watercolor workshops.  Although my medium of choice is not paint, but makeup, I enjoyed every minute of the workshop! It is always inspiring to create in any form. The space that Rachel creates shows her undeniable talent to teach and explain in a safe environment for learning. It was a great experience!

For a list of all Pink Puddle Studio‘s workshops and prints for purchase, take a look at the site.

A little about Rachel:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I love this shirt because it is flowy and comfortable.  I am all about casual on a day-to-day basis, but with style. The lace pattern adds a vintage style that I love.

Tell me a little about yourself:   I am an artist- I should say a painter of all mediums.  Most of my work is done in watercolor and oil paint.  I am the owner/artist of Pink Puddle Studio, a company I started about 2 years ago.  I feel so grateful to be able to do what I love on a daily basis.  I believe art is an extension of beauty and there should be a lot more of it in the world.

T-shirt Tuesday! Heather Petrey

Munkee_0830172304_resized

Heather and I attended a The Zen Bird workshop together in downtown Phoenix a couple months back.  I love hearing the introductions from each person at the workshop because it shows so much about the individual. Heather had recently moved here from Houston, Texas and her love of Phoenix was shown very quickly.  She was real, raw and every word she said, we all nodded in agreement.  I respected the true self that Heather presented and was so happy she had settled into the ‘Valley of the Sun’.  I look forward to catching up over coffee and hearing all about her trip to New York Fashion Week!

This natural makeup look with a pop of a red lip is perfection on Heather!

A little about Heather:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  It is my favorite Tshirt because the brand – Curated Cotton, is a local brand based in Houston. I know the owner and she’s pretty cooI. I also like supporting local. The tee is super cozy and what’s not to like about a cactus print ?!

Tell me a little about yourself:  I’m Heather and I was born in Los Angeles. I’m currently a photographer at My Sister’s Closet in Phoenix. I’m also the content creator behind my fashion and lifestyle blog- LAFashionsnob.com. I’ve had the blog since November 2008, having been influenced to start a blog while I was at a local LA handmade market- Felt Club. I had really enjoyed speaking with the vendors and hearing their stories, thus I was inspired to share their stories and products with the world. Since its launch, it has grown, and will continue to grow. I focus mainly on covering fashion events (and am attending NYFW for the second time this September), but I also do reviews, highlight local/indie brands and designers, have a page showcasing my unique style, and am also trying to grow my lifestyle page, which deals with local hotels and restaurants.

I really have enjoyed the many opportunities that have come with having a blog, and I’ve met so many great people. It’s also helped me come out of my shell. Along with having a blog, I also love the desert, anything cacti, Route 66, travel, photography, thrifting, styling, and anything to do with vintage clothing and decor.

T-shirt Tuesday! Megan Perry

Screenshot_20160829-191550_resized

Sometimes people enter your life and you have no idea how meeting them will impact you.  Megan was one of these people.  I did her makeup for her class reunion one Saturday at work.  We started talking and before you knew it, I was booked to do makeup for her wedding in California.  I was so grateful our paths crossed, and even more so that I get to know Megan more each time we chat.

A little about Megan:

Why is this your favorite t-shirt?:  I’m super blessed to have such a close group of girlfriends in my life. We call ourselves the “LIG Crew” aka Life is Good Crew. It started out with a group of 5 of us, my two older sisters, our two friends that are also sisters, and me. We’ve all known each other for 20+ years and over time added 4 more ladies to our squad. Most of us have matching “Life is Good” tattoo’s, but some will have to earn that commitment before getting permanent artwork on their body (Stephanie know’s this story ha). Every time I wear a Life is Good t-shirt it just reminds me how lucky I am to have such an amazing bond with 9 wonderful ladies.

Tell me a little about yourself:  Hi, my name is Megan and I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. At the age of two, I started competing all over the world doing a type of dance called clogging. For those of you who do not know, clogging is a mixture of Tap and Riverdance. For the past 25 years, my clogging team hosted an annual competition and we had our final one last month . Even though I don’t compete anymore, it will always be a huge part of my life.

I have a very strong work ethic and have always been quite the workaholic. I started working a week after I turned 15 at a local restaurant called Barro’s Pizza. While there, I would make pizzas, run the cash register, and help deliver pizzas to the customers. Throughout my time in school, I continued working at the pizza place. When I graduated from North Canyon High, I received a job opportunity to work in their preschool room and athletic department. I spent many years there and accepting the job was the best decision in my life because that is where I ended up meeting my fiancé. He was an english teacher and basketball coach.

Being a “Zonie” as the Californians call us, and growing up in the desert, we always had an appreciation for the beach. I would frequently travel to San Diego in the summer and ever since I was little, I can remember always wanting to move there. Two years ago, my dream came true as my fiancé and I finally made it happen. We quit our jobs with the school district, found a place to live, and moved to the beach without any employment opportunities. Everyone thought we were crazy moving without anything lined up, but guess what, we are proving them wrong each day as we are going on our third year. We are both loving life and have two amazing jobs working in the education field.

Last August, shortly after celebrating year one in San Diego, my fiancé Peter finally got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We will be getting married this October and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
